The Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) is dedicated to keeping communities safe. JDAI is a process -- NOT a conventional program. Focus ensures that the right youth are detained, and only for as long as necessary. JDAI’s core strategies, reliance on data, and use of objective screening instruments identify youth most likely to reoffend. JDAI engages various community stakeholders including judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, probation officers, elected officials and community representatives in a collaborative process to help identify and implement system improvements.
