April 10, 2020

DJJ Communications Office
(850) 921-5900

Tallahassee, Fla. – In response to the ongoing Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in Florida, the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice has issued a supplemental emergency order continuing the suspension of visitation at all state-operated juvenile detention centers and juvenile residential commitment programs until April 30, 2020. DJJ has no known cases of COVID-19 within our youth population at this time.

DJJ will continue to ensure frequent communication between youth and their families. All facility staff, along with outside personnel and vendors who work within the juvenile facilities, will continue to be screened prior to entry. Clinical personnel are still permitted to visit youth for treatment purposes, instructional personnel are permitted to provide educational services, and attorneys are permitted to conduct legal visits with youth. Parents or family members with questions about visitation should contact the facility where their child is located.
